Fresh as a Daisy Floral Cookies
Learn to make these beautiful botanical cookies with royal icing and sprinkles—perfect for any occasion!
Ingredients:
1 batch sugar cookie dough (makes 20-24 cookies)
6 cups royal icing
Assorted food coloring
1/4 cup nonpareil sprinkles
Powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions:
Prepare Cookies: Roll out your chilled dough to about 1/4 inch thick on a floured surface. Use a 3-inch floral cookie cutter to cut out shapes. Place the cookies on lined baking sheets, chill for 30 minutes, then bake at 325°F (165°C) for 8-10 minutes. Let them cool completely.
Make Royal Icing: Prepare a double batch of royal icing, coloring it with your desired shades. The icing should be thick enough to hold its shape when piped. Add more powdered sugar if needed.
Decorate: Fit a piping bag with a petal tip and fill it with icing. Start by piping petals around the outer edge of each cookie, working your way towards the center in layers. Immediately sprinkle nonpareils in the center while the icing is still wet.
Set and Store: Allow the cookies to dry at room temperature for 2-3 hours until the icing hardens. Store them in an airtight container for up to a week.
These cookies are not only gorgeous but also delicious—perfect for gifting or serving at any gathering!
