Monster Cookie Dough Cupcakes

Ingredients:
For the Cookie Dough Cupcakes:
Cookie Dough Batter:
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
Cupcake Batter:

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup milk
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Cookie Dough Frosting:

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
For Garnish:
Mini chocolate chips
Cookie dough balls (optional)

Instructions:
Prepare the Cookie Dough:
In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
Gradually mix in the flour and salt until just combined.
Stir in the mini chocolate chips.
Chill the cookie dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
Prepare the Cupcakes:

Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C) and line a 12-cup muffin tin with cupcake liners.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter until smooth.
Add the sugar and beat until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
Add the dry ingredients in three parts, alternating with the milk and sour cream, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
Divide the cupcake batter evenly among the cupcake liners, filling each about halfway.
Scoop a small amount of chilled cookie dough into the center of each cupcake batter.

Bake for 18-22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow the cupcakes to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Prepare the Cookie Dough Frosting:
In a large bowl, beat together the softened butter and brown sugar until creamy.
Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until combined.
Add the milk and vanilla extract, and beat until smooth and fluffy.
Stir in the mini chocolate chips.
Frost the Cupcakes:
Once the cupcakes are completely cool, frost them with the cookie dough frosting using a piping bag or a knife.
Garnish with additional mini chocolate chips and, if desired, small cookie dough balls.
